I'm done

And it's not just the rain talking. This time I really mean it.

Yesterday was an enlightening time for me. Not only did I resort to writing about absolutely nothing (kind a like the concept behind Seinfeld), but last night, at a birthday party for a friend, I realized there is no hope. The US is doomed, and there is no reversing the course we're on.

People who I thought were relatively intelligent, and people who I would have thought had much more to lose should we continue down this path, have no clue in the world where we're headed. They have been blinded to the truth by their own hatred, and the lack of understanding of the true motivations of those skillfully directing us down this path of destruction.

Of course maybe I'm the idiot. Maybe they're right and I'm wrong. I just don't think so. I've never known my instincts to fail me, and I don't think they're failing me now.

So I'm done. No more politics, no more health care debates and no more pointing out the lunacy of others. It's just going to be bike riding, some wine, a little golf, travel [even work, as long as they want to keep me around], and all the other pleasures I can still enjoy while they last.

I don't plan on taking the site down though, and I may still post the occasional update on my health status, but that's about it.

The plan now is to spend every penny I've managed to accumulate over the past 60+ years enjoying myself, until I bounce my last check.

My only hope is I make it that long.

Marc,

Come on, don't tease us. You have to be more specific. Which people, which path?

Finally we agree on something, we have no say in the current political environment. Your right it's all headed down the tube, thank goodness we both saved in earlier years to maybe stay ahead of the game. Our kids and grandchildren are screwed and they don't even seem to realize it yet!

Were leaving for Italy in April and will continue to ride every day and take naps in the afternoon............Lets only blog about the positive like biking and golf!
GP

Well off to the gym, to ugly to ride even though we live in So. Cal.

Thanks Gerry for answering Alan's question. Now I don't have to.

As far as the who, neither of you know the ones I was specifically referring to in this post.

Oh, and I just got back from the gym!

History IS repeating itself

I didn't grow up during the rise and fall of Hitler and Nazi Germany, so for me to claim it feels like those are the times we are living in now, must be taken with a grain of salt. But I have seen enough movies, and read enough history to know, if the times we're living in now are not akin to the rise of a Nazism and Facism in Europe in the 1930's and 1940's, then we're not far off. If you can't see the parallels with Nazi Germany, then you must be living in a different country than me. Republicans and other right wing extremists will stop at nothing to subvert the will of the majority, forcing their beliefs, that they are the superior race and have been appointed by God, to impose their will on America, while they blame all our problems on immigrants, blacks and Jews. As I speak, Mitch McConnell, and his minions are raising roadblocks to all legislation designed to help average Americans under the guise of fiscal responsibility. They condone violent and verba...

My concerns reaffirmed today

When I was first diagnosed with MCL, I pretty much read just about everything I could get my hands on, I attended various conferences, and I talked to anyone who would listen. One of the most important lessons I learned, and which I've mentioned numerous times before was No one cares more about you than you. But in addition to that, I learned to fear the drug Doxorubicin , AKA Adriamycin, Doxil, Hydroxydoxorubicin, or more affectionately the Red Devil. Besides being a deadly chemical, as is the case with most chemotherapy drugs, it is one of the few chemotherapy drugs known to cause permanent heart damage. I even heard Dr. Sandra Horning , a noted Stanford lymphoma specialist, state at the first lymphoma conference I attended in LA, there was no evidence Doxorubicin provided any added benefit to chemotherapy protocols. This was music to my ears, since Doxorubicin is very common in most lymphoma treatment protocols. And even though Dr. Horning has since changed her tune [which my sk...

Stop the stupidity!

Rural medical center (in Georgia) suspended from vaccination program after inoculating school district staff. Give me a break! Trying to get kids back to school, while protecting teachers, bus drivers and other staff, is exactly what school districts should be doing. If they have vaccines, give them out. We should be giving out vaccines to all who want them, whenever available. Trying to adhere to rigid guidelines will only result in fewer people getting vaccines, resulting in the discarding of precious vaccines, and less protection for everyone. Of course we should be giving first priority to healthcare workers, and any other essential public service employees, such as policeman, fireman, etc. first, but when they're not around to receive shots, or refuse shots, then give them to anyone willing to take them. What I would have objected to is the medical center trying to capitalize on the pandemic to make a profit, from giving vaccines to people far down the list of recipients, but ...
