This has been the worst winter

And winter doesn't even start for another 4 days.

Two months ago, I came down with a cold, which kept me off the bike for over a week. It even kept me from visiting Edie when she was in the hospital recovering from her transplant. And now it seems I've contracted yet another cold.

That's two colds within a two month period. I can't remember having experienced two colds in such a short period, or even more than one cold in an entire year that has caused me to feel as bad as these latest two. Plus this time, even Edie is sick, so now I'm beginning to wonder.

Is this due to our lymphoma/myeloma, or is this just a fitting ending to what has otherwise been an overall lousy year?

I know increased infections are a symptom of lymphoma, but what about colds? And even if that isn't the case, what about my body's ability to fight off the cold?

If it's any consolation, I haven't fared that badly compared to many others in the stock market, and I'm not the only one who hasn't been feeling well lately either. A number of other cycling buddies have come down with colds and flu's, which have kept them off the bike for several days, in addition to some of my co-workers.

Plus the weather hasn't been that great the last couple of days, with all the rain and the cold, so I don't feel like I'm missing out on a whole lot, which has given me plenty of time to patch all the tubes I've been stock piling over the year. (I've already managed to fix about 1o of them so far.)

Oh well such is life! Fortunately I should have plenty of time to recoup, and prepare for the operation to repair my Dupuytren's contraction, Jan 8th of next year, as the plant will be closed, till after the 1st, for our holiday shut down.

So here's wishing everyone a happy holiday season, and a MUCH more prosperous new year.

I've been lucky, since retirement 2 yrs. ago no FLU......... Since surviving cancer and a acustic nuroma plus 7 generals for surgeries, I think I paid my dues.
Stay home and rest with Edie, I'm going to the pool!

Stop the stupidity!

Rural medical center (in Georgia) suspended from vaccination program after inoculating school district staff. Give me a break! Trying to get kids back to school, while protecting teachers, bus drivers and other staff, is exactly what school districts should be doing. If they have vaccines, give them out. We should be giving out vaccines to all who want them, whenever available. Trying to adhere to rigid guidelines will only result in fewer people getting vaccines, resulting in the discarding of precious vaccines, and less protection for everyone. Of course we should be giving first priority to healthcare workers, and any other essential public service employees, such as policeman, fireman, etc. first, but when they're not around to receive shots, or refuse shots, then give them to anyone willing to take them. Or it's actually Motivational Deficiency Disorder, MoDeD (pronounced Mo-Dee-Dee) for short. In a report this week by Roy Moynihan who reports for the British Medical Journal Austrailian scientists may have come across the reason for extreme laziness . The condition is claimed to affect up to one in five Australians and is characterised by overwhelming and debilitating apathy. Neuroscientists at the University of Newcastle in Australia say that in severe cases motivational deficiency disorder can be fatal, because the condition reduces the motivation to breathe. Neurologist Leth Argos is part of the team that has identified the disorder, which can be diagnosed using a combination of positron emission tomography and low scores on a motivation rating scale, previously validated in elite athletes.
