All this stress

I think the stress of the last week has finally gotten to me. [At least I hope it's the stress, and not something more sinister.]

I felt lousy all day yesterday (never even got out of my pajamas), and don't feel any better today. My throat is sore, I'm sneezing, my nose is runny, my spleen and liver feel larger than normal, and I'm just run down. Didn't even go for a bike ride, or visit Edie yesterday, which is making me feel even worse.

She was a little bummed about that, but she did receive an email from her brother and sister-in-law (who she has never met) in Ohio yesterday, so I think that cheered her up some.  We haven't kept in touch with much of the family still living in Ohio, since we left in 1982, so it was good hearing from them, and learning how well all the family is doing.

It was also good to learn Edie's brother Earl, a real plumber in Ohio (most of Edie's family in Ohio were plumbers), is an Obama supporter, and is even helping on the campaign. I knew there was a reason I always liked that man!

Anywaze, Edie needs some clean clothes, a new pillow and some other stuff, so I will be making a trip to the City of Hope today, but I don't plan on staying. With her counts as low as they are, I don't think that would be a good idea. I'll just drop them off in the lobby, and see her from afar.

Sounds like a cold. And there is one going around right now. So, don't give Edie your cooties!

My mom says if Obama wins I'm out of the will!

Well, we both know your mom is one of those right wing fringe radicals, but even so, I'm sure she doesn't mean it. :)

I didn't grow up during the rise and fall of Hitler and Nazi Germany, so for me to claim it feels like those are the times we are living in now, must be taken with a grain of salt. But I have seen enough movies, and read enough history to know, if the times we're living in now are not akin to the rise of a Nazism and Facism in Europe in the 1930's and 1940's, then we're not far off. Stop the stupidity!

Rural medical center (in Georgia) suspended from vaccination program after inoculating school district staff. Give me a break! Trying to get kids back to school, while protecting teachers, bus drivers and other staff, is exactly what school districts should be doing. If they have vaccines, give them out. We should be giving out vaccines to all who want them, whenever available. Trying to adhere to rigid guidelines will only result in fewer people getting vaccines, resulting in the discarding of precious vaccines, and less protection for everyone. Of course we should be giving first priority to healthcare workers, and any other essential public service employees, such as policeman, fireman, etc. first, but when they're not around to receive shots, or refuse shots, then give them to anyone willing to take them. What I would have objected to is the medical center trying to capitalize on the pandemic to make a profit, from giving vaccines to people far down the list of recipients, but ...

In a report this week by Roy Moynihan who reports for the British Medical Journal Austrailian scientists may have come across the reason for extreme laziness . The condition is claimed to affect up to one in five Australians and is characterised by overwhelming and debilitating apathy. Neuroscientists at the University of Newcastle in Australia say that in severe cases motivational deficiency disorder can be fatal, because the condition reduces the motivation to breathe. Neurologist Leth Argos is part of the team that has identified the disorder, which can be diagnosed using a combination of positron emission tomography and low scores on a motivation rating scale, previously validated in elite athletes.
