965 Miles

I ws going for a 1000 miles this month, but after yesterday's PV ride, which in my opinion is the toughest club ride (60 miles and 3000 feet of climbing), I decided 965 miles (about 1550 km) was plenty.

If you haven't guessed by now that I was talking about how many miles I've ridden my bike this month, then you obviously have never read my blog before, since that subject typically makes up the greatest proportion of my posts.

So today is a day of rest, but rather than just sit around the house doing absolutely nothing, which is never a good thing, I'm heading out to hit some golf balls at the range.

I might even play a round if I'm feeling up to it. I haven't done that in a long time, and I'll ride of course.

I just found out my niece is dating a cyclist. She just recently went to Canada with him for some kind of ride. You people sure do travel far to ride a bike.

I didn't grow up during the rise and fall of Hitler and Nazi Germany, so for me to claim it feels like those are the times we are living in now, must be taken with a grain of salt. My concerns reaffirmed today

When I was first diagnosed with MCL, I pretty much read just about everything I could get my hands on, I attended various conferences, and I talked to anyone who would listen. One of the most important lessons I learned, and which I've mentioned numerous times before was No one cares more about you than you. But in addition to that, I learned to fear the drug Doxorubicin , AKA Adriamycin, Doxil, Hydroxydoxorubicin, or more affectionately the Red Devil. Besides being a deadly chemical, as is the case with most chemotherapy drugs, it is one of the few chemotherapy drugs known to cause permanent heart damage. I even heard Dr. Sandra Horning , a noted Stanford lymphoma specialist, state at the first lymphoma conference I attended in LA, there was no evidence Doxorubicin provided any added benefit to chemotherapy protocols. Stop the stupidity!

Rural medical center (in Georgia) suspended from vaccination program after inoculating school district staff. Give me a break! Trying to get kids back to school, while protecting teachers, bus drivers and other staff, is exactly what school districts should be doing. If they have vaccines, give them out. We should be giving out vaccines to all who want them, whenever available. Trying to adhere to rigid guidelines will only result in fewer people getting vaccines, resulting in the discarding of precious vaccines, and less protection for everyone. Of course we should be giving first priority to healthcare workers, and any other essential public service employees, such as policeman, fireman, etc. first, but when they're not around to receive shots, or refuse shots, then give them to anyone willing to take them.
