It's even worse than I thought

Saw the cardiologist today, and he said it's not looking good. I definitely have coronary heart disease.

My calcium scores are off the charts (> 3000), and I'm likely going to need a stent or two. Maybe even bypass surgery.

BYPASS SURGERY!!! Not even in my wildest dreams was I anticipating that news. And the worst part is, he said I shouldn't be exercising until then. (And cycling has been the only thing that seems to alleviate some of this discomfort my enlarged spleen causes.)

Oh well, as I always say, such is life! We'll know more after the angiogram.

I guess I'd better start making out my will.

Hate to say I told you so, but the Ca++ scan was a waste of time and money. Should have gone right to the cath.

Your cardiologist can't tell if you'll need stents for bypass based on that study. Only the cath will tell him that.

Bypass surgery is not that big a deal these days. If you need it and it's successful you should be back on your bike in no time.

Folate and B12 levels were also within the normal range. The only problem now is determining what is causing the iron deficiency, which in the case of men, is [very] rare. My oncologist has given me a Globin Fecal test to perform, and has scheduled me for a consultation with a colorectal surgeon to discuss performing a colonoscopy, which could be problematic because of my large spleen. Stop the stupidity!

Rural medical center (in Georgia) suspended from vaccination program after inoculating school district staff. Give me a break! Trying to get kids back to school, while protecting teachers, bus drivers and other staff, is exactly what school districts should be doing. If they have vaccines, give them out. We should be giving out vaccines to all who want them, whenever available. Trying to adhere to rigid guidelines will only result in fewer people getting vaccines, resulting in the discarding of precious vaccines, and less protection for everyone. Of course we should be giving first priority to healthcare workers, and any other essential public service employees, such as policeman, fireman, etc. first, but when they're not around to receive shots, or refuse shots, then give them to anyone willing to take them.
