Got dropped 3 times today

Follow up from this mornings mini post.

Well, I made it to the ride, and for some reason decided to go out with the 1st group. It was fast! 31.3 mph heading out on Westminster. That's when I got dropped for the first time.

With the help of a stronger rider, who was left behind, and the fortuitous traffic light, we managed to get back on to the back of the pack. I even managed to hang on for another mile, but got dropped again on Lampson.

This time, I was close enough to take a minor short cut, and get back on again at Valley View, and even managed to stay on half way through our second time on Westminster.

But by that time I was pretty much "toast", and decided enough was enough, so I just headed to the coffee shop for tea.

I was reasonably pleased. Not bad for a 60 year old man with a hemoglobin of 11.9 (reference range 14-18), I figured, and I might even have enough energy left over to do tomorrows ride.

Way to do a lot with a little hemoglobin. I'm five months post SCT for MCL, and my hemoglobin still hasn't rebounded. But I still outwalk most all of my "normal" friends.

So, does "dropped" mean you crashed or just couldn't keep up?

Hi all, i'm about five months from Stem Cells Transfer too and my blood formula seems to stagnate under the minimums and i have muscular pains.

I love riding too, with bicycle and also with my bike, an old 2 strokes Kawasaki triple. I'm 57 years old till 26 of May. :-)

My concerns reaffirmed today

When I was first diagnosed with MCL, I pretty much read just about everything I could get my hands on, I attended various conferences, and I talked to anyone who would listen. One of the most important lessons I learned, and which I've mentioned numerous times before was No one cares more about you than you. But in addition to that, I learned to fear the drug Doxorubicin , AKA Adriamycin, Doxil, Hydroxydoxorubicin, or more affectionately the Red Devil. Besides being a deadly chemical, as is the case with most chemotherapy drugs, it is one of the few chemotherapy drugs known to cause permanent heart damage. I even heard Dr. Sandra Horning , a noted Stanford lymphoma specialist, state at the first lymphoma conference I attended in LA, there was no evidence Doxorubicin provided any added benefit to chemotherapy protocols. Stop the stupidity!

Rural medical center (in Georgia) suspended from vaccination program after inoculating school district staff. Give me a break! Trying to get kids back to school, while protecting teachers, bus drivers and other staff, is exactly what school districts should be doing. If they have vaccines, give them out. We should be giving out vaccines to all who want them, whenever available. Trying to adhere to rigid guidelines will only result in fewer people getting vaccines, resulting in the discarding of precious vaccines, and less protection for everyone. Of course we should be giving first priority to healthcare workers, and any other essential public service employees, such as policeman, fireman, etc. first, but when they're not around to receive shots, or refuse shots, then give them to anyone willing to take them. What I would have objected to is the medical center trying to capitalize on the pandemic to make a profit, from giving vaccines to people far down the list of recipients, but ...
